Microsoft Office 2007 (Student Version)….

is selling in PC World for £99 (£79) if you buy a laptop. We don’t use Microsoft Office at school because of the cost.  Instead we use an excellent alternative called Open Office. It is free and downloadable from www.openoffice.org  and all updates and newer versions are always available…at no cost. We encourage our children and staff to use it in school and home. This particularly helps with things like projects.

The Leavers’ Disco - or splish splash!

It might be splish splash because of the number of tears that some people (Mrs Reed said she definitely did not want a mention and warned me not to say anything) who watched the assembly shed!

Hannah and her bike!

Sefton’s catering services recently ran a campaign to get more children to have school meals. One incentive was a draw to win a bike. Everyone who has school dinners at Green Park entered the competition and the winner was Hannah from Y4. She received her prize from Mr Hewer and Mrs Oscego (our school cook - http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/business-detail.php?business_id=66801&inspection_type=FH) and was delighted at the fantastic new bike.

There are photographs on the way ….but my lead is in school and my camera and computer are at home!!

We had lots going on in school this week. The Juniors completed their run of “Hoodwinked” on Thursday and they saved their best performance to the end! The other Mrs Reed comes into our school each week to support our musical activities and this weeek she left to take up a new job in Bolton. Our Mrs Reed arranged a musical assembly on Thursday to celebrate. You can see some video clips at http://raff31.blip.tv Everyone tried hard and produced some lovely sounds but Y1 were the best!!! (If you are looking at blip.tv and the clips are not there yet…..be patient they will be uploaded today.

There were two football finals this week. Thomas in Y5 wrote the match report for the Everton Academy final at Finch Park,

Y5 Everton Football Final

On Wednesday 9th July Y5 football team went to Finch farm for a football Final, they were playing Great Crosby. In the first half Crosby were making lots of breaks with great one touch football. Suddenly a break from Crosby sent a great shot into the top corner. Then the coach Mr Hewer realized that it was an 8-a-side game and we only had seven so he threw on one of the substitutes Owen Armstrong. With six minutes left a good run from Saul Foolen Shearer sent a flying cross in which was deflected by a Crosby player into the roof of the net. A goalless second half saw the game go to penalties. The first penalty was scored by Stuart Callaway 1-0 Green park. Then Crosby brought it to 1-1. The next penalty was missed by Karl Loughlin but Crosby missed too , still 1-1. The third pen was taken by Patrick Lawrenson who scored a great pen but Crosby equalised

2-2. It went to sudden death and keeper Stephen Killen stepped up and scored 3-2 Green park then Crosbys keeper stepped up and missed, Green Park WIN!

The second final of the week was the Year 5 Maghull final against St. Andrew’s. In a very close game St Andrew’s won  by two goals to nil. Both teams played very well and in the right sporting spirit.
